Ricardo “Franjinha” Miller
Founder of Paragon BJJ / Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Ricardo “Franjinha” Miller has being teaching and competing for the last 25 years with many titles in regional, national and international competitions. With his black belt, Ricardo set for himself challenges extending beyond Brazil. In 1996 he came to the United States to compete and to teach. He proved to be successful at both. With American partner Mike Florimbi, the Paragon Academy of Martial Arts was founded in 1998 at the city of Santa Barbara, CA. With the success of Santa Barbara school, Paragon conquered the World with schools in the USA and Brazil.
Mitch Yount is a First Degree Black Belt with Paragon BJJ and one of the instructors at Paragon BJJ Ventura. His experience started with Rickson Gracie. He teaches Jiu-Jitsu and No Gi class.
Outside Paragon, Mitch is a high school teacher for sports.
Kids Jiu-Jitsu instructor
Pablo Madera is a Brown Belt at Paragon and the kids Jiu-Jitsu instructor Paragon BJJ Academy in Ventura. He has been teaching Jiu-Jitsu since 2006 and has taught kids classes at Paragon since 2008. In his profession since 1997, he has been teaching severely disabled kids with learning disabilities outside Paragon.
First Aid/CPR certified.
Matthew Richard Pollino
1st degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
Professor Matthew Richard Pollino is a full time Jiu Jitsu Instructor, mainly working privately with multiple clients either on a one on one basis or in small group sessions. Matthew is the Former In-House Jiu Jitsu Instructor at the Toluca Lake Tennis and Fitness Club. Former Head Instructor at Gracie Barra Encino/STC Encino, instructing there for nearly five years and was briefly the Head Jiu Jitsu Instructor at Clube L.A., in downtown Los Angeles. Professor Pollino is a 1st degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under World Jiu Jitsu Champion, former King of the Cage Champion, and UFC Competitor Professor Alberto Crane from Legacy Jiu Jitsu Burbank where Matthew trained and taught for 6 years.
Steve Shaw has been training at Paragon BJJ since 2006 and now is fighting for Paragon as an MMA fighter. Has been teaching sports at Carden Conejo School since 2008. He has also taught kids kickboxing at Paragon and now is currently an instructor for Functional Training at Paragon.
Todd is a Former United States Marine and currently holds licenses as a Professional Mixed Martial Artist and Professional Boxer. In addition he has a “9-5” so he understands how hard it can be to make the time to exercise. He has been training Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai and Boxing for around 12 years. Todd takes great pride in seeing his students grow in skill and confidence both on and off the mats. Over the years as a Martial Artist Todd has learned from a number of high level combat athletes and loves sharing the knowledge that has been passed down to him. His classes are high energy, well organized and can accommodate all skill levels. Todd feels it is critical that his students have the ability to apply the skills they have attained in his classes in real life self-defense scenarios. Kickboxing instructor and kids class assistant
Tabatha Ricci started at world of martial arts doing Judo at age of 6 years old. Later, at age of 15 years old, she got into Muay Thai and successfully had few fights with good winnings, including the Brazilian Nationals. When she was 17 years old, she started to do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Been very successful winning 2 World titles, one in Brazil as a blue belt and in Irvine, CA as a purple belt. Tabatha has also 2 professional MMA fights with 2 wins.
